The Photo Meetings Ghar el Melh were founded 2003 and have been held annually until 2009. After an intermission of four years, they returned with an excellent 8th edition in 2014. This year, the organizing committee is pleased to announce the 9th edition which will run over a week from Sunday 7 to Saturday 13 June, 2015.
The Photo Meetings Gahr el Melh are the only major cultural photography event in Tunisia and bring together individuals active in the field without imposing a thereon them. The Ottoman fort of Lazaretto – the main venue – hosts thirty exhibitions of Tunisian and international photographers in various photographic disciplines.
Workshops, debates as well as portfolio reviews are part of the meetings as well. There are special workshops for children available. The meetings have a special focus on amateur photographers with workshops and masterclasses to enhance photography practices.

The exhibition includes a video presentation of POPCAP, the piclet.orgPrize for Contemporary African Photography since its inauguration in 2012 presenting all 27 winners.
